And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful."

‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ الْمَرَض ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: إِنَّ أَيُّوبَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْهُ شَيْءٌ يَقُولُهُ النَّاسُ كَانَ أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمْ: لَوْ كَانَ نَبِيًّا مَا ابْتُلِيَ بِالَّذِي ابْتُلِيَ بِهِ، فَدَعَا اللَّهَ فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَعْمَلْ حَسَنَةً فِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ إِلَّا عَمِلْتُ فِي السِّرِّ مَثْلَهَا؛ فَاكْشِفْ مَا بِي مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ، فَاسْتَجَابَ اللَّهُ لَهُ، فَوَقَعَ سَاجِدًا، وَأَمْطَرَ عَلَيْهِ فَرَاشَ الذَّهَبِ، فَجَعَلَ يَلْتَقِطُهُ وَيَجْمَعُهُ ‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ هَذَا مُفَسَّرٌ فِي سُورَةِ " ص " ‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَيْ: أَنَّ الَّذِي كَانَ مِمَّنِ ابْتُلِي بِهِ أَيُوبُ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ هَوَانِهِ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَرَادَ كَرَامَتَهُ بِذَلِكَ، وَجَعَلَ ذَلِك عزاء للعابدين بعده.

So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah].

And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.

تفسير القرآن العزيزIbn Abī Zamanīn

‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ تَفْسِيرُ قَتَادَةَ: أَنَّ ذَا الْكِفْلِ لَمْ يَكُنْ نَبِيًّا، وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا صَالِحًا تَكَفَّلَ بِعَمَلِ رَجُلٍ صَالِحٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ كَانَ يُصَلِّي لِلَّهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ صَلَاةٍ؛ فَأَحْسَنَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الثَّنَاءَ.

وَتَفْسِيرُ مُجَاهِدٍ: أَنَّهُ تَكَفَّلَ لنَبِيٍّ أَنَّ يَقُومَ فِي قومه بعده بِالْعَدْلِ.

‏‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏

And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."
