The bearing is calculated using the WGS84 ellipsoidal geodesic method (the same standard professional surveying tools use), which is more accurate than the simpler spherical formula most Qibla calculators use — verified to six decimal places against an independent reference library before this page shipped. A phone's built-in compass sensor can still be thrown off by nearby metal or magnets, so if the live compass seems off, try moving away from large metal objects (desks, appliances, cars) and recalibrating by moving your phone in a figure-eight.
