Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.

  1. As the dawn breaks

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ

    Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi-l-qabri wa min fitnati-l-qabr.

    O Allah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the grave and from the trial of the grave.

    A neighbour of the Prophet ﷺ used to hear him say this as the dawn came up.

  2. Save me from the Fire

    اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

    Allāhumma ajirnī mina-n-nār.

    O Allah, save me from the Fire.

    Say it seven times after the dawn prayer: if you die that day, a protection from the Fire is written for you.

    Straight after the Fajr prayer.

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka ʿilman nāfiʿā, wa rizqan ṭayyibā, wa ʿamalan mutaqabbalā.

    O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that benefits, provision that is wholesome, and deeds that are accepted.

    He ﷺ said it after the salām of the Fajr prayer.

    Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. Al-Baqarah 2:255

    Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa-l-ḥayyu-l-qayyūm. Lā taʾkhudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahu mā fi-s-samāwāti wa mā fi-l-arḍ. Man dha-lladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi-idhnih. Yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bi-mā shāʾ. Wasiʿa kursiyyuhu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, wa lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwa-l-ʿaliyyu-l-ʿaẓīm.

    Whoever says it when he enters the morning is protected until evening, and whoever says it when he enters the evening is protected until morning.

    Qul huwa-llāhu aḥad. Allāhu-ṣ-ṣamad. Lam yalid wa lam yūlad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad. · Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi-l-falaq. Min sharri mā khalaq. Wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab. Wa min sharri-n-naffāthāti fi-l-ʿuqad. Wa min sharri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad. · Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi-n-nās. Maliki-n-nās. Ilāhi-n-nās. Min sharri-l-waswāsi-l-khannās. Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri-n-nās. Mina-l-jinnati wa-n-nās.

    Say them three times when you enter the morning and the evening: they will suffice you against everything.

  6. Glory be to Allah, evening and morning

    So exalted is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning. And to Him is [due all] praise throughout the heavens and the earth. And [exalted is He] at night and when you are at noon. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and brings to life the earth after its lifelessness. And thus will you be brought out. Ar-Rūm 30:17–19

    Fa-subḥāna-llāhi ḥīna tumsūna wa ḥīna tuṣbiḥūn. Wa lahu-l-ḥamdu fi-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa ʿashiyyan wa ḥīna tuẓhirūn. Yukhriju-l-ḥayya mina-l-mayyiti wa yukhriju-l-mayyita mina-l-ḥayyi wa yuḥyi-l-arḍa baʿda mawtihā, wa kadhālika tukhrajūn.

    Whoever says them when he enters the morning makes up what he missed of that day, and whoever says them when he enters the evening makes up what he missed of that night.

  7. The opening of Ghāfir, and Āyat al-Kursī

    Ha, Meem. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination. Ghāfir 40:1–3

    Whoever recites Ḥā Mīm al-Muʾmin as far as “to Him is the journeying”, together with Āyat al-Kursī, in the morning is guarded by them until evening; whoever recites them in the evening is guarded until morning.

  8. The last verses of al-Ḥashr

    أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

    I take refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from Satan the accursed.

    He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Al-Ḥashr 59:22–24

    Aʿūdhu billāhi-s-samīʿi-l-ʿalīmi mina-sh-shayṭāni-r-rajīm. · Huwa-llāhu-lladhī lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿālimu-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādah, huwa-r-raḥmānu-r-raḥīm. Huwa-llāhu-lladhī lā ilāha illā huwa-l-maliku-l-quddūsu-s-salāmu-l-muʾminu-l-muhayminu-l-ʿazīzu-l-jabbāru-l-mutakabbir, subḥāna-llāhi ʿammā yushrikūn. Huwa-llāhu-l-khāliqu-l-bāriʾu-l-muṣawwiru lahu-l-asmāʾu-l-ḥusnā, yusabbiḥu lahu mā fi-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, wa huwa-l-ʿazīzu-l-ḥakīm.

    Allah appoints seventy thousand angels to pray for him until evening, and if he dies that day he dies a martyr; whoever says it in the evening has the same standing.

    Say the words of refuge three times, then recite the last three verses of al-Ḥashr.

  9. We have entered the morning

    أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَسُوءِ الْكِبَرِ وَفِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥa-l-mulku lillāh, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāh, lā ilāha illa-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. Rabbi asʾaluka khayra mā fī hādha-l-yawmi wa khayra mā baʿdah, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādha-l-yawmi wa sharri mā baʿdah. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika mina-l-kasali wa-l-haram wa sūʾi-l-kibar wa fitnati-d-dunyā. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fi-n-nāri wa ʿadhābin fi-l-qabr.

    We have entered the morning, and all dominion has entered the morning belonging to Allah, and all praise is Allah’s. There is no god but Allah alone, without partner; His is the dominion and His the praise, and He has power over all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good that is in this day and the good of what follows it, and I take refuge in You from the evil that is in this day and the evil of what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness, from decrepitude and from the miseries of old age, and from the trial of this world. My Lord, I take refuge in You from a punishment in the Fire and a punishment in the grave.

  10. By You we enter the morning

    اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

    Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā, wa bika naḥyā, wa bika namūtu, wa ilayka-n-nushūr.

    O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening; by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the rising.

  11. Upon the natural way of Islam

    أَصْبَحْنَا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ، وَعَلَى كَلِمَةِ الْإِخْلَاصِ، وَعَلَى دِينِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ أَبِينَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا، وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

    Aṣbaḥnā ʿalā fiṭrati-l-islām, wa ʿalā kalimati-l-ikhlāṣ, wa ʿalā dīni nabiyyinā Muḥammadin ﷺ, wa ʿalā millati abīnā Ibrāhīma ḥanīfan muslimā, wa mā kāna mina-l-mushrikīn.

    We have entered the morning upon the natural way of Islam, upon the word of sincere faith, upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and upon the way of our father Ibrāhīm, who turned wholly to Allah in submission and was not of those who set up partners with Him.

  12. Pardon and well-being

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَاىَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-ʿāfiyata fi-d-dunyā wa-l-ākhirah. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-ʿafwa wa-l-ʿāfiyata fī dīnī wa dunyāya wa ahlī wa mālī. Allāhumma-stur ʿawrātī wa āmin rawʿātī. Allāhumma-ḥfaẓnī min bayni yadayya wa min khalfī, wa ʿan yamīnī wa ʿan shimālī, wa min fawqī, wa aʿūdhu bi-ʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.

    O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the next. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion and my worldly life, in my family and my wealth. O Allah, cover my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, guard me from in front of me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me; and I take refuge in Your greatness from being seized from beneath me.

    He ﷺ never left these supplications, morning or evening.

  13. Well-being in body, hearing and sight

    اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

    Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī badanī, Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī samʿī, Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī baṣarī, lā ilāha illā ant.

    O Allah, grant me well-being in my body. O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight. There is no god but You.

  14. From disbelief and poverty

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

    Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina-l-kufri wa-l-faqr, Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi-l-qabr, lā ilāha illā ant.

    O Allah, I take refuge in You from disbelief and from poverty. O Allah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You.

    Abū Bakrah said both of these three times every morning and evening, because he had heard the Prophet ﷺ supplicate with them.

  15. Make this day good

    أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْكِبْرِيَاءُ وَالْعَظَمَةُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ، وَاللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَمَا سَكَنَ فِيهِمَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ أَوَّلَ هَذَا النَّهَارِ صَلَاحًا، وَأَوْسَطَهُ نَجَاحًا، وَآخِرَهُ فَلَاحًا، يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥa-l-mulku lillāhi ʿazza wa jall, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāh, wa-l-kibriyāʾu wa-l-ʿaẓamatu lillāh, wa-l-khalqu wa-l-amr, wa-l-laylu wa-n-nahāru wa mā sakana fīhimā lillāhi ʿazza wa jall. Allāhumma-jʿal awwala hādha-n-nahāri ṣalāḥā, wa awsaṭahu najāḥā, wa ākhirahu falāḥā, yā arḥama-r-rāḥimīn.

    We have entered the morning, and all dominion belongs to Allah, Mighty and Majestic; all praise is Allah’s, and all grandeur and greatness are Allah’s; creation and command, the night and the day and all that rests in them belong to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. O Allah, make the beginning of this day goodness, its middle success, and its end salvation, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

  16. Good that comes suddenly

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَجْأَةِ الْخَيْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فَجْأَةِ الشَّرِّ

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka min fajʾati-l-khayr, wa aʿūdhu bika min fajʾati-sh-sharr.

    O Allah, I ask You for the good that comes suddenly, and I take refuge in You from the evil that comes suddenly.

    “For a servant does not know what will come upon him suddenly in the morning and the evening.”

  17. I call You to witness, my Lord

    أَصْبَحْتُ يَا رَبِّ أُشْهِدُكَ، وَأُشْهِدُ مَلَائِكَتَكَ، وَأَنْبِيَاءَكَ وَرُسُلَكَ، وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ عَلَى شَهَادَتِي عَلَى نَفْسِي أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وَأَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ، وَأُؤْمِنُ بِكَ، وَأَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ

    Aṣbaḥtu yā rabbi ushhiduka, wa ushhidu malāʾikataka wa anbiyāʾaka wa rusulaka wa jamīʿa khalqika ʿalā shahādatī ʿalā nafsī, annī ashhadu annaka lā ilāha illā anta waḥdaka lā sharīka lak, wa anna sayyidanā Muḥammadan ﷺ ʿabduka wa rasūluk, wa uʾminu bika wa atawakkalu ʿalayk.

    I have entered the morning, my Lord, calling You to witness, and calling Your angels, Your prophets, Your messengers and all Your creation to witness what I testify of myself: that I bear witness there is no god but You alone, without partner, and that Sayyidinā Muhammad ﷺ is Your servant and Your Messenger. I believe in You, and on You I rely.

  18. The chief of seeking forgiveness

    اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَىَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ

    Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa anā ʿabduk, wa anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika ma-staṭaʿt. Aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayya wa abūʾu laka bi-dhanbī, fa-ghfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfiru-dh-dhunūba illā ant.

    O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I hold to Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able. I take refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge before You Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me — for none forgives sins but You.

    Whoever says it in the day with certainty in it and dies that day before evening is among the people of the Garden; and whoever says it at night with certainty in it and dies before morning is among them too.

  19. I am content

    رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا وَبِسَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ نَبِيًّا

    Raḍītu billāhi rabbā, wa bi-l-islāmi dīnā, wa bi-sayyidinā Muḥammadin ﷺ nabiyyā.

    I am content with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Sayyidinā Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet.

    Whoever says it three times in the morning and the evening, it is a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Rising. And of the one who says it in the morning, he ﷺ said: “I am his guarantor: I will take him by the hand until I bring him into the Garden.”

  20. I call You to witness

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَكَ وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ وَأَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ

    Allāhumma innī aṣbaḥtu ushhiduka wa ushhidu ḥamalata ʿarshika wa malāʾikataka wa jamīʿa khalqik, annaka anta-llāhu lā ilāha illā ant, wa anna sayyidanā Muḥammadan ﷺ ʿabduka wa rasūluk.

    O Allah, I have entered the morning calling You to witness, and calling the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels and all Your creation to witness, that You are Allah — there is no god but You — and that Sayyidinā Muhammad ﷺ is Your servant and Your Messenger.

    Said once, Allah frees a quarter of him from the Fire; twice, half; three times, three quarters; and four times, Allah frees him from the Fire.

  21. Whatever blessing I have

    اللَّهُمَّ مَا أَصْبَحَ بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ أَوْ بِأَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ فَمِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ

    Allāhumma mā aṣbaḥa bī min niʿmatin aw bi-aḥadin min khalqik fa-minka waḥdaka lā sharīka lak, fa-laka-l-ḥamdu wa laka-sh-shukr.

    O Allah, whatever blessing has come with the morning to me, or to any of Your creation, is from You alone, without partner; so Yours is the praise and Yours is the thanks.

    Whoever says it in the morning has given the thanks due for his day, and whoever says it in the evening has given the thanks due for his night.

  22. With His name nothing harms

    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَىْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

    Bismi-llāhi-lladhī lā yaḍurru maʿa-smihi shayʾun fi-l-arḍi wa lā fi-s-samāʾ, wa huwa-s-samīʿu-l-ʿalīm.

    In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

    Say it three times in the morning and no sudden affliction will strike you until evening; say it three times in the evening and none will strike you until morning.

  23. Allah is enough for me

    حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

    Ḥasbiya-llāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbu-l-ʿarshi-l-ʿaẓīm.

    Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

    Whoever says it seven times in the morning and the evening, Allah will suffice him in whatever concerns him.

  24. Originator of the heavens and the earth

    اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ رَبَّ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءًا أَوْ أَجُرَّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ

    Allāhumma fāṭira-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, ʿālima-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādah, rabba kulli shayʾin wa malīkah, ashhadu an lā ilāha illā ant, aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī wa sharri-sh-shayṭāni wa shirkih, wa an aqtarifa ʿalā nafsī sūʾan aw ajurrahu ilā muslim.

    O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord of all things and their Sovereign: I bear witness that there is no god but You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my own self, and from the evil of Satan and the partners he calls to, and from bringing evil upon myself or drawing it onto a Muslim.

    Taught to Abū Bakr to say in the morning, in the evening, and on going to bed.

  25. Set right all my affairs

    يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ، أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ، وَلا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ

    Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūmu bi-raḥmatika astaghīth, aṣliḥ lī shaʾnī kullah, wa lā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn.

    O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all, by Your mercy I seek relief: set right all my affairs, and do not leave me to myself for the blink of an eye.

    His ﷺ counsel to Sayyidatunā Fāṭimah, to say morning and evening.

  26. You created me, and You guide me

    اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي، وَأَنْتَ تَهْدِينِي، وَأَنْتَ تُطْعِمُنِي، وَأَنْتَ تَسْقِينِي، وَأَنْتَ تُمِيتُنِي، وَأَنْتَ تُحْيِينِي

    Allāhumma anta khalaqtanī, wa anta tahdīnī, wa anta tuṭʿimunī, wa anta tasqīnī, wa anta tumītunī, wa anta tuḥyīnī.

    O Allah, You created me and You guide me; You feed me and You give me drink; You will cause me to die and You will give me life.

    Whoever says it in the morning and the evening does not ask Allah for anything but He gives it to him.

  27. The good of this day

    أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فَتْحَهُ وَنَصْرَهُ وَنُورَهُ وَبَرَكَتَهُ وَهُدَاهُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِيهِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥa-l-mulku lillāhi rabbi-l-ʿālamīn. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka khayra hādha-l-yawm: fatḥahu wa naṣrahu wa nūrahu wa barakatahu wa hudāh, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fīhi wa sharri mā baʿdah.

    We have entered the morning, and all dominion belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day — its opening, its help, its light, its blessing and its guidance — and I take refuge in You from the evil in it and the evil of what comes after it.

  28. All praise belongs to Allah

    أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْحَمْدُ كُلُّهُ لِلَّهِ، لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥa-l-ḥamdu kulluhu lillāh, lā sharīka lah, lā ilāha illa-llāh, wa ilayhi-n-nushūr.

    We have entered the morning, and all praise has entered it belonging to Allah, without partner. There is no god but Allah, and to Him is the rising.

  29. The daily covenant

    لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ، وَالْخَيْرُ فِي يَدَيْكَ وَمِنْكَ وَبِكَ وَإِلَيْكَ، اللَّهُمَّ مَا قُلْتُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ، أَوْ نَذَرْتُ مِنْ نَذْرٍ، أَوْ حَلَفْتُ مِنْ حَلِفٍ، فَمَشِيئَتُكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، مَا شِئْتَ كَانَ، وَمَا لَمْ تَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِكَ، إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ وَمَا صَلَّيْتُ مِنْ صَلَاةٍ، فَعَلَى مَنْ صَلَّيْتَ، وَمَا لَعَنْتُ مِنْ لَعْنَةٍ، فَعَلَى مَنْ لَعَنْتَ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ. أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ الرِّضَا بَعْدَ الْقَضَاءِ، وَبَرْدَ الْعَيْشِ بَعْدَ الْمَمَاتِ، وَلَذَّةَ نَظَرٍ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ، وَشَوْقًا إِلَى لِقَائِكَ، مِنْ غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ، وَلَا فِتْنَةٍ مُضِلَّةٍ. أَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ، أَوْ أَعْتَدِيَ أَوْ يُعْتَدَى عَلَيَّ، أَوْ أَكْتَسِبَ خَطِيئَةً مُحْبِطَةً، أَوْ ذَنْبًا لَا يُغْفَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ، فَإِنِّي أَعْهَدُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا، وَأُشْهِدُكَ وَكَفَى بِكَ شَهِيدًا، أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، لَكَ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ وَعْدَكَ حَقٌّ، وَلِقَاءَكَ حَقٌّ، وَالْجَنَّةَ حَقٌّ، وَالسَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا، وَأَنْتَ تَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ إِنْ تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي، تَكِلْنِي إِلَى ضَيْعَةٍ وَعَوْرَةٍ وَذَنْبٍ وَخَطِيئَةٍ، وَإِنِّي لَا أَثِقُ إِلَّا بِرَحْمَتِكَ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

    Labbayka-llāhumma labbayka wa saʿdayk, wa-l-khayru fī yadayka wa minka wa bika wa ilayk. Allāhumma mā qultu min qawlin, aw nadhartu min nadhrin, aw ḥalaftu min ḥalifin, fa-mashīʾatuka bayna yadayh; mā shiʾta kān, wa mā lam tashaʾ lam yakun, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bik, innaka ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. Allāhumma wa mā ṣallaytu min ṣalātin fa-ʿalā man ṣallayt, wa mā laʿantu min laʿnatin fa-ʿalā man laʿant, innaka anta waliyyī fi-d-dunyā wa-l-ākhirah, tawaffanī muslimā, wa alḥiqnī bi-ṣ-ṣāliḥīn. Asʾaluka-llāhumma-r-riḍā baʿda-l-qaḍāʾ, wa barda-l-ʿayshi baʿda-l-mamāt, wa ladhdhata naẓarin ilā wajhik, wa shawqan ilā liqāʾik, min ghayri ḍarrāʾa muḍirrah, wa lā fitnatin muḍillah. Aʿūdhu bika-llāhumma an aẓlima aw uẓlam, aw aʿtadiya aw yuʿtadā ʿalayy, aw aktasiba khaṭīʾatan muḥbiṭatan aw dhanban lā yughfar. Allāhumma fāṭira-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, ʿālima-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādah, dha-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām, fa-innī aʿhadu ilayka fī hādhihi-l-ḥayāti-d-dunyā, wa ushhiduka — wa kafā bika shahīdā — annī ashhadu annahu lā ilāha illā anta waḥdaka lā sharīka lak, laka-l-mulku wa laka-l-ḥamd, wa anta ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr, wa ashhadu anna sayyidanā Muḥammadan ﷺ ʿabduka wa rasūluk, wa ashhadu anna waʿdaka ḥaqq, wa liqāʾaka ḥaqq, wa-l-jannata ḥaqq, wa-s-sāʿata ātiyatun lā rayba fīhā, wa anta tabʿathu man fi-l-qubūr, wa ashhadu annaka in takilnī ilā nafsī takilnī ilā ḍayʿatin wa ʿawratin wa dhanbin wa khaṭīʾah, wa innī lā athiqu illā bi-raḥmatik, fa-ghfir lī dhanbī kullah, innahu lā yaghfiru-dh-dhunūba illā ant, wa tub ʿalayy, innaka anta-t-tawwābu-r-raḥīm.

    Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am, answering You again and again. All good is in Your hands; it comes from You, it exists by You, and it returns to You. O Allah, whatever I have said, whatever vow I have made or oath I have sworn — Your will comes before it all: what You will comes to be, and what You do not will does not. There is no might and no power except through You; You have power over all things. O Allah, whatever blessing I have prayed for falls on whomever You bless, and whatever curse I have uttered falls on whomever You curse. You are my Protector in this world and the next: take me as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous. I ask You, O Allah, for contentment after the decree, for the coolness of life after death, for the delight of looking upon Your Face, and for longing to meet You — without harm that hurts or trial that misleads. I take refuge in You, O Allah, from wronging or being wronged, from transgressing or being transgressed against, and from earning a sin that wipes out my deeds or a sin that is not forgiven. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord of majesty and generosity: I give You my pledge in this worldly life, and I call You to witness — and You are enough as a witness — that I bear witness there is no god but You alone, without partner; Yours is the dominion and Yours the praise, and You have power over all things. I bear witness that Sayyidinā Muhammad ﷺ is Your servant and Your Messenger; that Your promise is true, meeting You is true, the Garden is true, and the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it; and that You will raise those who are in the graves. And I bear witness that if You leave me to myself, You leave me to weakness and exposure, to sin and error — and I trust in nothing but Your mercy. So forgive me all my sins, for none forgives sins but You, and turn to me; You are the Ever-Relenting, the Most Merciful.

    The Prophet ﷺ taught it to Zayd ibn Thābit and told him to keep his household saying it every day.

  30. What Allah wills comes to be

    سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ لاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا

    Subḥāna-llāhi wa bi-ḥamdih, lā quwwata illā billāh, mā shāʾa-llāhu kān, wa mā lam yashaʾ lam yakun, aʿlamu anna-llāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr, wa anna-llāha qad aḥāṭa bi-kulli shayʾin ʿilmā.

    Glory be to Allah, and His is the praise; there is no power except through Allah. What Allah wills comes to be, and what He does not will does not. I know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge.

    Whoever says these words in the morning is kept safe until evening, and whoever says them in the evening is kept safe until morning.

  31. My Lord is Allah

    رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ، وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا

    Rabbiya-llāhu-lladhī lā ilāha illā huwa-l-ʿaliyyu-l-ʿaẓīm, tawakkaltu ʿala-llāh, wa huwa rabbu-l-ʿarshi-l-ʿaẓīm, mā shāʾa-llāhu kān, wa mā lam yashaʾ lam yakun, aʿlamu anna-llāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr, wa anna-llāha qad aḥāṭa bi-kulli shayʾin ʿilmā.

    My Lord is Allah, besides whom there is no god, the Most High, the Magnificent. I have placed my trust in Allah, and He is Lord of the mighty Throne. What Allah wills comes to be, and what He does not will does not. I know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge.

    Whoever says it in the morning and the evening, and then dies, enters the Garden.

  32. Kept from calamity

    اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَأَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ كَانَ، وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ، أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا، إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

    Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, ʿalayka tawakkaltu wa anta rabbu-l-ʿarshi-l-ʿaẓīm, mā shāʾa-llāhu kān, wa mā lam yashaʾ lam yakun, lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāhi-l-ʿaliyyi-l-ʿaẓīm, aʿlamu anna-llāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr, wa anna-llāha qad aḥāṭa bi-kulli shayʾin ʿilmā. Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī, wa min sharri kulli dābbatin anta ākhidhun bi-nāṣiyatihā, inna rabbī ʿalā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm.

    O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. In You I have placed my trust, and You are Lord of the mighty Throne. What Allah wills comes to be, and what He does not will does not. There is no might and no power except through Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent. I know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge. O Allah, I take refuge in You from the evil of my own self, and from the evil of every creature whose forelock You hold. Truly my Lord is on a straight path.

    Whoever says these words at the start of his day is not struck by calamity until evening, and whoever says them at its end, not until morning.

  33. Over myself, my family and my wealth

    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي

    Bismi-llāhi ʿalā nafsī wa ahlī wa mālī.

    In the name of Allah, over myself, my family and my wealth.

    A man complained of the misfortunes that kept befalling him. He was told to say this in the morning, and they left him.

  34. It is as Allah wills

    مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    Mā shāʾa-llāh, lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh, ashhadu anna-llāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.

    It is as Allah wills; there is no might and no power except through Allah. I bear witness that Allah has power over all things.

    Whoever says it in the morning is given the good of that day and has its evil turned away from him; and whoever says it at night, the same for the night.

  35. Sincere in my religion

    اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ رَبِّي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكَ مُخْلِصًا لَكَ دِينِي، أَصْبَحْتُ عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ سَيِّئِ عَمَلِي وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِذُنُوبِي الَّتِي لَا يَغْفِرُهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Allāhumma laka-l-ḥamdu lā ilāha illā anta rabbī wa anā ʿabduk, āmantu bika mukhliṣan laka dīnī, aṣbaḥtu ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika ma-staṭaʿt, atūbu ilayka min sayyiʾi ʿamalī, wa astaghfiruka li-dhunūbiya-llatī lā yaghfiruhā illā ant.

    O Allah, Yours is the praise; there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I believe in You, making my religion sincerely Yours. I have entered the morning upon Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able. I turn to You from my bad deeds, and I ask Your forgiveness for my sins, which none forgives but You.

    Whoever says it three times in the morning and dies that day enters the Garden; and whoever says it three times in the evening and dies that night enters the Garden.

  36. Before whose greatness all things bow

    الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي تَوَاضَعَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ لِعَظَمَتِهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي ذَلَّ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ لِعِزَّتِهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أُخْضِعَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ لِمُلْكِهِ

    Al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī tawāḍaʿa kullu shayʾin li-ʿaẓamatih, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī dhalla kullu shayʾin li-ʿizzatih, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī ukhḍiʿa kullu shayʾin li-mulkih.

    Praise be to Allah, before whose greatness all things are humbled; praise be to Allah, before whose might all things are brought low; praise be to Allah, to whose dominion all things are made to yield.

    Whoever says it in the morning has a hundred thousand good deeds written for him.

  37. The most worthy to be remembered

    اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ مَنْ ذُكِرَ، وَأَحَقُّ مَنْ عُبِدَ، وَأَنْصَرُ مَنِ ابْتُغِيَ، وَأَرْأَفُ مَنْ مَلَكَ، وَأَجْوَدُ مَنْ سُئِلَ، وَأَوْسَعُ مَنْ أَعْطَى، أَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، وَالْفَرْدُ لَا تَهْلِكُ، كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَكَ، لَنْ تُطَاعَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِكَ، وَلَنْ تُعْصَى إِلَّا بِعِلْمِكَ، تُطَاعُ فَتَشْكُرُ، وَتُعْصَى فَتَغْفِرُ، أَقْرَبُ شَهِيدٍ، وَأَدْنَى حَفِيظٍ، حُلْتَ دُونَ الثُّغُورِ وَأَخَذْتَ بِالنَّوَاصِي، وَكَتَبْتَ الْآثَارَ وَنَسَخْتَ الْآجَالَ، الْقُلُوبُ لَكَ مُفْضِيَةٌ وَالسِّرُّ عِنْدَكَ عَلَانِيَةٌ، الْحَلَالُ مَا أَحْلَلْتَ وَالْحَرَامُ مَا حَرَّمْتَ، وَالدِّينُ مَا شَرَعْتَ، وَالْأَمْرُ مَا قَضَيْتَ، وَالْخَلْقُ خَلْقُكَ، وَالْعَبْدُ عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنْتَ اللَّهُ الرَّءُوفُ الرَّحِيمُ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَشْرَقَتْ لَهُ السَّمَوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ، وَبِكُلِّ حَقٍّ هُوَ لَكَ، وَبِحَقِّ السَّائِلِينَ عَلَيْكَ، أَنْ تَقْبَلَنِي فِي هَذِهِ الْغَدَاةِ وَأَنْ تُجِيرَنِي مِنَ النَّارِ بِقُدْرَتِكَ

    Allāhumma anta aḥaqqu man dhukir, wa aḥaqqu man ʿubid, wa anṣaru mani-btughī, wa arʾafu man malak, wa ajwadu man suʾil, wa awsaʿu man aʿṭā. Anta-l-maliku lā sharīka lak, wa-l-fardu lā tahlik, kullu shayʾin hālikun illā wajhak. Lan tuṭāʿa illā bi-idhnik, wa lan tuʿṣā illā bi-ʿilmik. Tuṭāʿu fa-tashkur, wa tuʿṣā fa-taghfir. Aqrabu shahīd, wa adnā ḥafīẓ. Ḥulta dūna-th-thughūr, wa akhadhta bi-n-nawāṣī, wa katabta-l-āthār, wa nasakhta-l-ājāl. Al-qulūbu laka mufḍiyah, wa-s-sirru ʿindaka ʿalāniyah. Al-ḥalālu mā aḥlalt, wa-l-ḥarāmu mā ḥarramt, wa-d-dīnu mā sharaʿt, wa-l-amru mā qaḍayt, wa-l-khalqu khalquk, wa-l-ʿabdu ʿabduk, wa anta-llāhu-r-raʾūfu-r-raḥīm. Asʾaluka bi-nūri wajhika-lladhī ashraqat lahu-s-samāwātu wa-l-arḍ, wa bi-kulli ḥaqqin huwa lak, wa bi-ḥaqqi-s-sāʾilīna ʿalayk, an taqbalanī fī hādhihi-l-ghadāh, wa an tujīranī mina-n-nāri bi-qudratik.

    O Allah, You are the most worthy of being remembered and the most worthy of being worshipped, the surest help of any whose help is sought, the most compassionate of any who holds power, the most generous of any who is asked, and the most bountiful of any who gives. You are the King, without partner, the One who never perishes; everything perishes except Your Face. You are obeyed only by Your leave, and disobeyed only within Your knowledge. You are obeyed and You reward it; You are disobeyed and You forgive. You are the nearest witness and the closest guardian. You stand guard at every breach, You hold every forelock, You have written every trace and fixed every term. Hearts lie open to You, and the secret is plain before You. The lawful is what You have made lawful and the unlawful what You have forbidden; the religion is what You have laid down and the matter is what You have decreed. The creation is Your creation and the servant Your servant, and You are Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful. I ask You by the light of Your Face, by which the heavens and the earth shine, by every right that is Yours, and by the right of those who ask of You, to accept me this morning, and to protect me from the Fire by Your power.

  38. From every venomous thing

    اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا، وَبِكَ حَيَاتُنَا وَمَوْتُنَا، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَالْهَامَّةِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ شَرِّ عِقَابِهِ، وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ

    Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā, wa bika ḥayātunā wa mawtunā, wa ilayka-n-nushūr. Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti-llāhi-t-tāmmāti min sharri-s-sāmmati wa-l-hāmmah, wa aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti-llāhi-t-tāmmati min sharri ʿiqābihi wa sharri ʿibādih.

    O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening; by You is our life and our death, and to You is the rising. I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of every venomous and every crawling thing, and I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His punishment and the evil of His servants.

  39. The perfect words of Allah

    أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

    Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti-llāhi-t-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

    I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

    Whoever says it in the morning and the evening, nothing will harm him.

  40. I give my honour in charity

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي قَدْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِعِرْضِي عَلَى عِبَادِكَ

    Allāhumma innī qad taṣaddaqtu bi-ʿirḍī ʿalā ʿibādik.

    O Allah, I have given my honour in charity to Your servants.

    The morning words of Abū Ḍamḍam, a man of the nations before us whom the Prophet ﷺ held up as an example: whoever wronged his honour, he had already forgiven.

  41. There is no god but Allah alone

    لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهْوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    Lā ilāha illa-llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr

    There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things.

    Ten times in the morning: a hundred good deeds are written for you and a hundred sins erased, it is worth freeing a slave, and you are guarded by it until evening — and the same in the evening. A hundred times in a day: it is worth freeing ten slaves, a hundred good deeds are written and a hundred sins erased, and it is a shelter from Satan that day until evening.

  42. Glory be to Allah, and praise

    سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

    Subḥāna-llāhi wa bi-ḥamdih

    Glory be to Allah, and His is the praise.

    Whoever says it a hundred times in the morning and the evening, no one will come on the Day of Rising with anything better than what he brings, except one who said as much or more.

  43. As many as His creation

    سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

    Subḥāna-llāhi wa bi-ḥamdih, ʿadada khalqih, wa riḍā nafsih, wa zinata ʿarshih, wa midāda kalimātih

    Glory be to Allah and His is the praise — as many as His creation, as pleases Him, as the weight of His Throne, and as the ink of His words.

    Said three times, these words outweigh all the dhikr said since the morning.

    He ﷺ said them after leaving Sayyidatunā Juwayriyah at her place of prayer after Fajr.

  44. Blessings on the Prophet ﷺ

    اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَبَارِكْ وَسَلِّمْ

    Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa bārik wa sallim.

    O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and his companions, and bless them and grant them peace.

    Whoever sends blessings on me ten times when he enters the morning and ten when he enters the evening will be reached by my intercession on the Day of Rising.

  45. Sitting on until sunrise

    Pray Fajr in congregation, then stay sitting in remembrance of Allah until the sun has risen, then pray two rakʿahs.

    The reward of a Ḥajj and an ʿUmrah — complete, complete, complete.

  46. Once the sun has risen

    الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَهَبَ لَنَا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ، وَأَقَالَنَا فِيهِ عَثَرَاتِنَا

    Al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī wahaba lanā hādha-l-yawm, wa aqālanā fīhi ʿatharātinā.

    Praise be to Allah, who has given us this day and overlooked our stumbles in it.

    What ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) said once the sun had risen, having spent the time after Fajr in glorification.

  47. When the sun rises

    الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ الَّذِي جَاءَنَا بِالْيَوْمِ وَعَافِيَتِهِ، وَجَاءَنَا بِالشَّمْسِ مِنْ مَطْلِعِهَا، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أَشْهَدُ لَكَ بِمَا شَهِدْتَ بِهِ لِنَفْسِكَ، وَشَهِدَتْ بِهِ مَلَائِكَتُكَ وَحَمَلَةُ عَرْشِكَ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ، اكْتُبْ شَهَادَتِي مَعَ شَهَادَةِ مَلَائِكَتِكَ وَأُولِي الْعِلْمِ، وَمَنْ لَا يَشْهَدُ بِمِثْلِ مَا شَهِدْتَ بِهِ فَاكْتُبْ شَهَادَتِي مَكَانَ شَهَادَتِهِ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ وَإِلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ، أَسْأَلُكَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ أَنْ تَسْتَجِيبَ دَعْوَتَنَا، وَأَنْ تُعْطِيَنَا رَغْبَتَنَا، وَأَنْ تُغْنِيَنَا عَمَّنْ أَغْنَيْتَ عَنَّا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ لِي دِينِي الَّذِي هُوَ عِصْمَةُ أَمْرِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي دُنْيَايَ الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعِيشَتِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي آخِرَتِي الَّتِي إِلَيْهَا مُنْقَلَبِي

    Al-ḥamdu lillāhi ʿalā jamīʿi khalqihi-lladhī jāʾanā bi-l-yawmi wa ʿāfiyatih, wa jāʾanā bi-sh-shamsi min maṭliʿihā. Allāhumma innī aṣbaḥtu ashhadu laka bi-mā shahidta bihi li-nafsik, wa shahidat bihi malāʾikatuka wa ḥamalatu ʿarshik, innaka anta-llāhu lā ilāha illā anta qāʾiman bi-l-qisṭ, lā ilāha illā huwa-l-ʿazīzu-l-ḥakīm. Uktub shahādatī maʿa shahādati malāʾikatika wa uli-l-ʿilm, wa man lā yashhadu bi-mithli mā shahidta bihi fa-ktub shahādatī makāna shahādatih. Allāhumma anta-s-salāmu wa minka-s-salāmu wa ilayka-s-salām. Asʾaluka yā dha-l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām an tastajība daʿwatanā, wa an tuʿṭiyanā raghbatanā, wa an tughniyanā ʿamman aghnayta ʿannā min khalqik. Allāhumma aṣliḥ lī dīnī-lladhī huwa ʿiṣmatu amrī, wa aṣliḥ lī dunyāya-llatī fīhā maʿīshatī, wa aṣliḥ lī ākhiratī-llatī ilayhā munqalabī.

    Praise be to Allah for all His creation, who has brought us the day in well-being and brought us the sun from its rising place. O Allah, this morning I bear witness for You to what You have witnessed of Yourself, and what Your angels and the bearers of Your Throne have witnessed: that You are Allah, there is no god but You, upholding justice; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. Write my testimony with the testimony of Your angels and of those who have knowledge; and in the place of whoever does not testify as You have testified, write my testimony. O Allah, You are Peace, from You is peace, and to You is peace. I ask You, Lord of majesty and generosity, to answer our prayer, to grant us what we long for, and to make us free of need of those of Your creation of whom You have made us free. O Allah, set right for me my religion, which is the safeguard of my affairs; set right for me my world, in which is my living; and set right for me my Hereafter, to which is my return.
