Narrated Anas Ibn Malik -may Allah be pleased with him- that the Prophet -prayer and peace be upon him- said: “I entered Paradise and heard the sound of footsteps. I said: ‘Who is that?’ It was said: ‘This is Al-Ghumeisa’ Bint Milhan, the mother of Anas Ibn Malik.” Related by Muslim.
Narrated Thabit, narrated Anas Ibn Malik -may Allah be pleased with him- said: “Abu Telha proposed marriage to Umm Suleim, so she said: ‘By Allah, a man like you is not turned away, O Abu Telha, but you are a disbelieving man and I am a Muslim woman, and it is not permissible for me to marry you. If you become Muslim, that will be my dowry, and I will not ask you for anything else.’ So Abu Telha became Muslim and that was her dowry.”
Thabit (one of the narrators) said: “I have never heard of a woman whose dowry was more honorable and precious than that of Umm Suleim (whose dowry was) Islam. And he consummated the marriage with her, and she bore him a child.” Related by An-Nasa’i.

Narrated Anas Ibn Malik -may Allah be pleased with him- said: “My mother, Umm Anas, took me to the Messenger of Allah -prayer and peace be upon him, having dressed me in an upper and lower garments made from her headdress, and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, this is my son Unais; I have brought him to you to serve you. Invoke the blessings of Allah upon him.’ Thereupon the Prophet -prayer and peace be upon him- supplicated: ‘O Allah, make abundant his wealth and progeny.’ Anas said: ‘By Allah, my fortune is huge and my children and grandchildren are more than one hundred today.” Related by Muslim.
Narrated Anas Ibn Malik -may Allah be pleased with him- said: “A son of Abu Talha became ill. Abu Talha went to the Mosque and the young boy died. Umm Sulaim prepared the dead boy (washed and shrouded him) and said to her family: ‘Let none of you tell Abu Talha about the death of his son.’ Abu Talha came back home with some friends from the mosque. He asked: ‘How is the young boy?’ She replied: ‘He is better than before.’
She presented their supper to them, they ate and then the group of people left. She embellished herself like women do. At the end of the night she said: ‘O Abu Talha, haven’t you seen the family of so and so who had borrowed something and enjoyed it, but when they were asked for its return they hated it?’ He replied: ‘They were not just.’ She said: ‘Then your son was something borrowed from Allah -the Exalted, and Allah has taken him.’ Abu Talha said: Inna li Allah wa inna ileihi raji’oon (To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return), and praised Allah.
When it was morning, Abu Talha went to the Messenger of Allah -prayer and peace be upon him (and told him). Upon seeing him the Prophet -prayer and peace be upon him- said: ‘May Allah bless both of you in your night.’ (As a result of blessing) Umm Sulaim became pregnant with Abdul-Allah. She gave birth to him at night, and disliked to start feeding him anything until the Messenger of Allah -prayer and peace be upon him- does so. So I carried him in the morning while I had some Ajwa dates, and found him branding tar on some of his camels.
I said; ‘O Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaim has given birth this night and she disliked starting feeding him anything until the Messenger of Allah -prayer and peace be upon him- does so.’ He asked: ‘Is there anything with you?’ I replied: ‘Some Ajwa dates.’ He took some of them, chewed them and then took it out and placed it in the child’s mouth. The child started to lick it, so the Prophet -prayer and peace be upon him- said: ‘The liking of the tribe of Al-Ansar for dates.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, name him.’ He replied: ‘He is Abdul-Allah.’ ” Related by Al-Bukhari, Imam Muslim, and Imam Ahmad.
Obayah Ibn Rufa’ah said: “Afterwards I saw seven sons of that young boy, all of them had memorized the Qur’an.”
