Short and steady — the plain meaning, with the reports that bear on it and little else.

Az-Zumar 39:26 Juzʾ 23 Page 461

‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏

So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

قَوْله تَعَالَى: ‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَي: الْعَذَاب الَّذِي يخزيهم، وَقَوله: ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَي: عَذَاب الْآخِرَة وَهُوَ عَذَاب النَّار أكبر من كل عَذَاب.
