Short and steady — the plain meaning, with the reports that bear on it and little else.

Al-Anbiyāʾ 21:15 Juzʾ 17 Page 323

‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏

And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].

Read in the muṣḥaf

قَوْله تَعَالَى: ‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَي: دعاؤهم وَقَوْلهمْ.

وَقَوله: ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ الحصيد: هُوَ المستأصل.

وَقَوله: ‏‏‏‏‏ أَي: ميتين، وَمعنى الْآيَة: جعلناهم كَأَن لم يَكُونُوا.
