Ar-Raḥmān 55:14 Juzʾ 27 Page 531

‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

Read in the muṣḥaf

‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏، طِينٍ يابِسٍ، لَهُ صَلْصَلَةٌ،

‏‏‏‏‏‏ أيْ: اَلطِّينِ المَطْبُوخِ بِالنارِ، وهو "اَلْخَزَفُ"، ولا اخْتِلافَ في هَذا وفي قَوْلِهِ: ﴿مِن حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ﴾ [الحجر: ٢٦] ﴿مِن طِينٍ لازِبٍ﴾ [الصافات: ١١] ﴿مِن تُرابٍ﴾ [آل عمران: ٥٩]، لِاتِّفاقِها مَعْنًى، لِأنَّهُ يُفِيدُ أنَّهُ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرابٍ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُ طِينًا، ثُمَّ حَمَأً مَسْنُونًا، ثُمَّ صَلْصالًا.

‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏ ‏‏‏ ‏

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏، أبا الجِنِّ، قِيلَ: هو إبْلِيسُ،

‏‏ ‏‏‏‏، هو اللهَبُ الصافِي، الَّذِي لا دُخانَ فِيهِ، وقِيلَ: اَلْمُخْتَلِطُ بِسَوادِ النارِ، مِن "مَرَجَ الشَيْءُ"، إذا اضْطَرَبَ واخْتَلَطَ،

‏‏ ‏‏‏، هو بَيانٌ لِـ "مارِجٍ"، كَأنَّهُ قِيلَ: "مِن صافٍ مِن نارٍ"، أوْ "مُخْتَلِطٍ مِن نارٍ"، أوْ أرادَ: "مِن نارٍ مَخْصُوصَةٍ"، (p-٤١٢)كَقَوْلِهِ: ﴿فَأنْذَرْتُكم نارًا تَلَظّى﴾ [الليل: ١٤]

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.

‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏‏، أرادَ مَشْرِقَيِ الشَمْسِ في الصَيْفِ، والشِتاءِ، ومَغْرِبَيْهِما.

‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏‏‏ ‏

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
